Data Acquisition Device Firmware

Reliable data acquisition is a crucial component of IoT systems. With supported hardware, the Narhwall Software ensures that periodic sensor data and asynchronous sensor events are transmitted to the cloud in real time. Sensor data is gathered by the wireless node every 10 minutes. This aggregated periodic sensor data is transmitted from wireless nodes to the cloud via the gateway every 30 minutes. Specific sensor events can be monitored and immediately transmitted to the cloud. All acquired sensor data is automatically stored in a time series database in the cloud and is accessible through API. Narhwall’s data acquisition software is turn-key and end-to-end from wireless nodes to cloud.

Wireless Node Firmware

  • Battery Optimized: The device firmware for the wireless node modules and gateway is designed to start reading from compatible 3rd party sensors. The wireless nodes firmware is battery optimized. The battery status can be monitored via API.
  • Long Range: Wireless nodes operate in long range mode upto 1000m. This can vary depending on any obstacles between the nodes and the gateway, as well as the antenna used. Signal strength can be requested via API to know if the nodes are within the range of the gateway.

Gateway Firmware

  • Secure Cloud Connectivity: Sensor data and events are encrypted and securely transferred to AWS IoT Core Cloud using TLS mutual authentication.
  • Data Aggregation: Sensor data messages from the nodes are aggregated in the gateway and forwarded to the cloud.
  • Scalable LPWAN network: Each gateway can aggregate and manage upto 100 wireless nodes.

Cloud Software

  • Managed Cloud Data Storage: Sensor data is stored in a time series database in the cloud and is accessible via API.
  • Device Management: Device firmware updates are automatically handled over-the-air. Device operation status is available via API allowing users to know device status in real time.

APIs

  • Data Access: Access to the data is through API.
  • Device Configuration: Device configuration available via API allows the system to know which sensors are present on the nodes and how to process them.
  • Device Monitoring: Device operation status is available via API and allows users to know the device status in real time.
